We've Moved!

After spending $11 per month for the past 18 months, Karl, the brilliant, the ever-frugal, decided that he was wasting too much money hosting www.rippeystreet.org at Yahoo! and figured that a Blogger blog would hit the spot for the Rippey Street Christian Community blog/web site.

Dave Ramsey also helped kick some sense into Karl's spending sensibilities.

Welcome. Hopefully much more to come.

For those wondering what the heck is Rippey Street Christian Community well, our old web site had the following postings:

Why Do This Thing Called "Community"

The individuals and families that make up the Rippey Street Christian Community have chosen to live as part of an intentional faith-based community in order to:

1. Celebrate God’s work
2. Nurture one another
3. Meet practical needs
4. Practice hospitality
5. Nurture fun
6. Unite diverse Christians
7. Love our Neighbors and Neighborhood
8. Nurture Kids
9. Testify and model Faith
10. Provide opportunities for accountability
11. Challenge prevailing culture

We fondly refer to these as "The 11 Purposes."

On-line after 26 years!

It is amazing for the Rippey Street Christian Community to finally have a web presence! It is only fitting to start this first entry off with who we are to give you an idea of what a couple dozen adults and kids have been doing for the past 1/4 century in the inner-city of Pittsburgh.

Rippey St. Christian Community Mission Statement:

We are a fellowship of Christians living in the East Liberty neighborhood of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania seeking to love our neighbors as we follow Christ. We are committed to:

• Enjoying and encouraging diversity
• Helping to bring hope and healing to our neighborhood
• Nurturing individual and family life
• Supporting each other in our collective callings and responsibilities

Together we seek to cultivate disciplined personal prayer and devotional lives. We are each active members in our local congregations. As a community we gather regularly to support one another in prayer, to learn from each other and God’s Word, to worship and to break bread together.

Welcome to our life. You are welcome anytime.
